GREASE

GREASE is the word! The worldwide sensation comes to THE BLACK BOX, with iconic characters, '50s pop culture, and electrifying rock 'n roll style. Written by Warren Casey and Jim Jacobs, the powerhouse Broadway musical became a Hollywood movie classic starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. Featuring Rydell High's Danny, Sandy, the T-Birds and Pink Ladies, the original high school musical includes energetic dance numbers and the hit songs “We Go Together,” “Summer Nights, “Greased Lightnin'” and "Born to Hand Jive.”

AT THE HOP!

Dust off your black leather and pink satin jackets! Don your poodle skirts and slick back your pompadours. Hop on back to the Fabulous Fifties for this original good-time musical revue written especially for our young musical theater performers!

METAMORPHOSES

Mary Zimmerman’s renowned theatrical adaptation based on the classical mythology of Ovid. The ancient stories from Ovid’s epic poem of the same name are woven together in a series of vignettes, retold by FSPA’s ensemble of student actors under the direction of Nick Paone. United by a common theme of transformation and change, the tales of Orpheus and Eurydice, Alcyone and Ceyx, Eros and Psyche, Aphrodite and more are explored for contemporary audiences with striking relevance to modern times.

ALI BABA AND THE FORTY THIEVES

An adaptation of a classic Arabian Night story, this exciting tale is about a boy who stumbles upon the loot of 40 thieves and steals some for himself. Ali Baba learns valuable lessons about the consequences of his actions, the dangers of greed and the value of honesty.

CLASS CONCERT, GRADUATION BALL, AND WESTERN REVELRIES

Originally choreographed in the 1960s for the Bolshoi Ballet School, Class Concert follows the structure of a ballet class and showcases dancers’ technique and precision. Graduation Ball is a comedic, exuberant ballet set to the music of Johann Strauss II. Aaron Copland provides the lively score to Western Revelries, which features dancing cowboys, chickadees and a turkey in the straw, and is choreographed by guest artist Donna Bonasera.

OPERA SCENES AND ARIAS

This FSPA Music Department presentation features opera scenes and arias from some of the most beloved repertory by Georges Bizet, Antonin Dvorak, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Gioachino Rossini and Johann Strauss II.
