Covid-19 Update

Dear FSPA Families,

I would like to provide an update following a meeting with Cathleen Liberty, Franklin’s Director of Public Health, regarding the FSPA student who tested positive for COVID-19.  Ms. Liberty was very positive and supportive of the COVID-19 control protocols we have in place for our programs and classes at FSPA.  She then reviewed with me how a positive case is handled by the public health system.  As required, FSPA reported our awareness of a positive case to the Franklin Board of Health.  We then made the decision to close for a full day in order to allow ample time to conduct the mandatory cleaning and sanitizing of our facilities.  From here, the public health nurse from the student’s town or the contact tracing collaborative monitoring the positive case, will contact you if your child is determined to have been in direct contact with the positive case.  “Direct contact” is defined as being within 6 feet of a positive individual for more than 10-15 minutes.   If you are not contacted by a public health professional, there are no mandatory steps for you to take.

At FSPA, we are diligently researching, updating, and implementing performing arts related protocols with the safety of our students our top priority.   We look forward to the remaining weeks of summer session, as we work on plans for accommodating our broader schedule of classes in the fall.

Thank you for your support and confidence.

Best,
