Voice classes are designed for young singers (ages 8-18) looking to gain experience and basic technique. Classes focus on the fundamentals of breathing, vowel placement, sight-reading and ear training. A wide-ranging repertoire is studied with emphasis on the classical and musical genres. Solo and choral repertoire is studied at every level. Age, vocal maturity and experience determine level placement. Students wishing to enroll in Levels II, III or IV must be evaluated by the Vocal Director.

Let’s Sing (ages 8-9):            Mon. 3:30; Wed. 3:30

Voice I (ages 10-13):            Mon. 4:30; Tues. 4:30

Voice II (ages 10-13):           Tues. 5:30; Wed. 6:30

Voice III (ages 10-13):          Mon. 5:30; Tues 6:30

Voice IV (ages 10-13):          Wed. 4:30

Teen Voice (ages 13+):         Thurs. 6:30

Boys’ Voice                           Fri. 4:00

 

Teen Voice Class is designed for the beginning to intermediate singer. Emphasis is placed on building confidence along with a healthy vocal technique. Repertoire includes musical theater and popular contemporary genres.

 

Ages 14 and up

 

Vocal coaching is offered for students with interests in specific repertoire including popular, rock, country or jazz styles. Proper vocal approach is stressed but with less emphasis on technique and more effort placed on building a repertoire of the students’ choice.

The FSPA Youth Choir focuses on classical repertoire with occasional repertoire from other genres.  The choir is an excellent opportunity for students to increase their level of musicianship, be exposed to great choral literature, gain sight-reading skills and to increase their ability to sing more complex harmonies!  There are at least two performances throughout the year. Students must be concurrently enrolled in private voice or a voice class at FSPA.
